Effect of steel fibres on reinforced concrete beam-column joints under reversed cyclic loading

The vibrations produced by earthquakes cause large horizontal forces in beam-column joints. If these exceed the limit values that joints can withstand, severe irreparable damage might occur. Experimental and analytical studies were conducted to determine energy dissipation capacity ductility of using “Self-compacting Concrete” (SCC) “Normal (NC) mixes containing various quantities steel fibres. Test results compared with obtained test specimen made normal concrete. reveal similar behaviour concrete self-compacting regard capacity. use fibres is known increase ductility. This study shows this more prominent case 1 % fibre volume ratio.
